The Municipality of Kincardine is working with MHBC Planning to update the Comprehensive Zoning By-Law.

What is a Zoning By-law?

A Zoning By-Law is a legal document that gives direction on land use through regulations on a variety of topics and permissions like:

  • Property setbacks
  • Building heights
  • Usage (residential, commercial, agricultural, industrial)

The Municipality of Kincardine updated the Official Plan in 2021. The Planning Act requires us to amend our Zoning By-Laws within three years of this update.

It’s also important to make sure Zoning By-Laws reflect current practices, changes in provincial policies, and that they support the strategic direction of the Municipality.

What’s next?

MHBC are reviewing all parts of the Zoning By-Law in detail to make sure there’s consistency with:

  • the Official Plan
  • current standards
  • best practices

Throughout the process, there are opportunities for public input and review. A preliminary report was released in August 2022 and Open Houses are following on September 27th. Subscribe to receive notifications and updates about this project.

What about existing applications?

We review any applications made during the review process on their own merits and under the existing Zoning By-Law.
