Why is the Municipality investigating the implementation of a Private Tree Preservation By-law?

    The Municipality of Kincardine has investigated the value of adopting a Private Tree Preservation By-law that will aid in the Municipality enforcing the preservation of trees. 

    What is the purpose of the Public Information Session meeting?

    The Municipality of Kincardine is conducting a Public Information Session meeting to further engage the community in its efforts to create the Private Tree Preservation By-law. This will be one of the two formats that the community can be engaged and will be a chance to learn more about the drafted Private Tree Preservation By-law prior to being brought back to Council for consideration of adoption.

    When will a permit be required, should the drafted Private Tree By-law be adopted by Council?

    A permit is required for the removal of trees that have a DBH of 30cm or greater on land that is greater than 0.5 hectares in size.

    Approximately 20% of the Municipality of Kincardine is covered by trees.

    What are the next steps after the survey closes on September 23rd?

    Following the closing of the survey on Friday, September 23rd, Staff will review the survey results and any other formats of engagement received (including email correspondence, Kincardine Talks questions, etc.). 

    Municipal Staff will evaluate the draft by-law following comments and suggestions provided by different groups including, legal, conservation authorities, property owners and residents and developers. Receiving this feedback and how the draft by-law effects developers, residents, etc.
