Consultation for the Draft Private Tree Preservation By-Law has concluded. Thank you to those who participated.

Housing is a basic human need and impacts every aspect of daily life.

Over the past several years, housing and rental prices in the Municipality have increased annually and rental vacancy rates have dropped to an all time low. Community consultation for the Corporate Strategic Plan and the Economic Development Strategy identified housing affordability, specifically rising housing costs and costs of living, as one of Kincardine’s greatest challenges. And it's not just here - communities across the province are grappling with similar housing challenges.

So what can we do?

Addressing housing challenges is complex and requires a dedicated commitment and resources that span over many years. It will require collaboration between multiple layers of government, private and public sector organizations, developers, non-profit organizations, and the community.

We're working to develop a Housing Action Plan that will identify short-term and long-term actions aimed at increasing housing availability, both rental and ownership options, and support more diverse housing stock (duplex, semis, townhouses, apartments) in the Municipality, including more affordable options.
