Consultation has concluded

Municipal services touch the lives of every resident and visitor. Addressing social inequities means services can address the needs of all citizens and improve the well-being of the community.

The Municipality of Kincardine is committed to developing actions to improve inclusion, diversity, equity and access (IDEA).

We're also committed to developing an IDEA Strategy to ensure the organization strengthens diversity in the workforce and implements inclusive processes, policies, programs, and services.

To develop that strategy, we engaged with the public to understand IDEA needs and to identify and focus on the most pressing priorities - 581 people participated through online and paper surveys, focus groups, workshops, online discussion forums, training and outreach meetings.

A “What we heard” report was created to provide a summary of the feedback that emerged from the community consultations. It is important to note that not all input will have corresponding actions in the future IDEA Strategy.

The IDEA Committee and staff are reviewing the input based on three criteria that were developed by the IDEA Committee:

  1. Quick win – achieve the action before next election in October 2022.
  2. Impacts multiple groups – action improves access for seniors as well as people with disabilities.
  3. Improves accessibility – action helps everyone access the service / initiative / facility etc.

We encourage the public to review the input and using the criteria above, tell us what you feel needs to be included in the IDEA Strategy by April 20, 2022.

The goal is to present a draft plan to Council in June 2022.

  • Stay up to date - check in for ongoing information on the Municipality of Kincardine website – IDEA page: www.kincardine.ca/IDEA.

Should you have any questions, require a different format to provide input, or would like to request a facilitated conversation, contact Lorie Fioze, Manager of Strategic Initiatives, at lfioze@kincardine.ca or 519-389-1857.
