The Municipality of Kincardine is developing a Master Cycling Planwith the following objectives to:
1. Provide equitable transportation options municipality-wide.
2. Design an integrated on and off-road network that seamlessly accommodates users.
3. Develop a sustainable blueprint for planning and construction.
4. Prioritize the comfort and safety of users.
5. Integrate cycling into day-to-day decision making.
6. Support long-term strategic objectives of the municipality.
7. Leverage cycling opportunities to enhance the tourism environment.
In March 2020, before the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, our Project Team held an in-person workshop and public open house to present the vision & objectives for the Master Cycling Plan and present the preliminary proposed cycling network. Prior to the in-person consultation, an online survey tool was launched. The purpose of the survey was to provide members of the public with an opportunity to provide input into the Master Cycling Plan. Over Spring and Summer 2020, the various components of the Master Cycling Plan were developed in consultation with City Staff and the Municipality’s Trails Committee.
As the Master Cycling Plan moves towards finalization, we invite you to Stay Involved by participating in our second round of engagement. In early December, a pre-recorded “public open house” and second survey opportunity will be released on this page. Information will be shared about:
· The proposed cycling network and design considerations;
· The proposed cycling education and encouragement action plan;
· An overview of how the municipality plans to address implementation and funding; and
· Key next steps for the municipality and its partners.
Keep an eye on this page and on the Municipality’s Social Media feeds to know when these are available!
In the meantime, we encourage to read the Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) about the Master Cycling Plan. If you have a question about the Plan that is not answered by the FAQ, we invite you to submit that question here - one of our team members will do their best to provide a response!
